Woohoo! Today is the big day! Later today at 10:15pm I will be departing the Boston Logan Int’l Airport on a direct 12-hour flight to Dubai Int’l Airport set to arrive at 7pm the following day since they are 9-hours ahead of us here in the U.S. Eastern time zone. I am all packed up and feel like I am bringing more than I need with myself but I always feel like that so this is no different, haha. I have my suits, my socks, and I am going to serve ya!
The forecast is looking like low 80s the whole time I’m there with the temperature fluctuating to around 65 F at night. I will be traveling with my friend, Carolina França and meet up with our friend from the CCOP program shortly after we arrive then head to our hotel, The Grand Nova Hotel. I’m not sure whether to sleep or not on the flight but I probably will and then sleep again when I get to Dubai. I’m a tired college student I think I can do that.
Wednesday morning is going to can’t come soon enough. On the 5th, I will enter the COP28 conference grounds as an official United Nations Climate Observer!! I am excited to meet people from around the world, network, geek out about the environment, explore the UAE, and share my stories as well as hear others’ stories.
One other thing I am super excited for is on the 6th, my group and I are going to be traveling to Abu Dhabi for an interfaith discussion day between Muslims and Christians. From the beautiful artwork, the culture, and the people, I am eager to learn and go outside my comfort zone in this learning space.
Final thought, please be praying for me as I am on my plane ride, as I go into a place I’ve never been before (Dubai), and as I step into a space that can often be discouraging. Let’s go GREEN!
